To Whom It May Concern,

I have been the class teacher of Danqin Jiang ever since she was admitted into our Quantitative Finance program in 2009. She was even one of the best among the 40 students selected out of 800 students of school of economics. Danqin served as the class monitor and took my Metrical Analysis of Finance in 2000. 

I came to know Danqin when she was in charge of the welcome party of new students as the monitor of the class. On one hand, she carefully split the tasks and encouraged her classmates to show their talents and get involved. I was impressed that she could spot her classmates’ talents after a week they met. On the other hand, when the class faced the problem of lacking a lead dancer since no one knew sufficiently well how to dance, she took up the heavy role, started to teach herself dancing and instructed others. In the end, their performance turned out to be a great success and earned the “most creative prize”. 

Danqin is very strong analytically. She once gave a 90-minutes long tutorial to the rest of the class to share her understandings about my course at the end of the semester. Danqin structured all the theories covered in class and provided rigorous explanations about the properties of the least square estimator. Such performance is rare and only possible if the student has grasped all the insights and has outstanding analytical skills.

Danqin is also someone who is eager to learn. She once came to me with some doubt on one of the class assignments. It was about amending heteroscedasticity according to the economic data given. She was the only student used all three methods rather than one to solve the problem. She questioned that “Logarithmic Transformation Method” might change variables’ original economic meaning, which wasn’t mentioned in the textbook but absolutely right. With her curiosity and courage to question, I am sure she will advance fast in her journey of truth discovery.   

All she needs now is a great master education like the one provided by the program at your University for her talents to be fully developed. At the same time, with the combination of her perseverance, sharp insights and great analytical skills, I believe that Danqin will also be a great asset to you. I strongly recommend her without reservation.
